What this site is
Barn in the Sticks is the website of a Wisconsin-based small business and working farm. We share content about farm life, restoration projects, recipes, builds, and offer business operations consulting services.
The site is provided as-is for informational and informal use. We try to keep things accurate, but we don’t promise everything will be perfect.
Using the site
You’re welcome here. While you’re using the site, please don’t:
- Try to break, hack, or interfere with the site or its security
- Scrape, copy, or republish our content without permission
- Submit forms with false information or use them to send spam
- Use the site for anything illegal
We may block or remove access from anyone violating these rules.
Our content
Everything on this site – photos, videos, written content, project documentation, recipes – is owned by us or used with permission, unless otherwise noted. You’re welcome to read it, link to it, and share it personally. You may not republish it elsewhere, use it commercially, or pass it off as your own without our written permission.
If you want to use something from the site for your own work, email chad@barninthesticks.com and ask. We’ll usually say yes.
Comments and submissions
If you leave a comment, submit a form, or otherwise send us content, you keep ownership of what you wrote, but you give us permission to display, store, and reference it on the site as part of normal site operations.
We reserve the right to edit or remove comments that are spam, abusive, off-topic, or otherwise inappropriate.
Consulting services
Our consulting services are offered separately under written engagement agreements. Information on our website about consulting is general – it doesn’t create a consultant-client relationship until both parties have signed a separate agreement.
Recipes, projects, and DIY content
The recipes, restoration projects, repair guides, and other how-to content on this site are shared in good faith based on what works for us. Use your own judgment. If you’re going to do electrical work, plumbing, structural work, or anything involving safety risks, consult a qualified professional. We’re not responsible for outcomes when others attempt projects shown on this site.
No warranties
This site is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or perfectly up to date. We’re a small operation doing our best.
Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, Barn in the Sticks is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. If something on our site doesn’t work right, your remedy is to stop using it.
Third-party content
We sometimes link to other websites or embed content (like YouTube videos). We’re not responsible for those sites or their content. Visit them at your own risk.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be handled in courts located in Wisconsin.
